The Community Reinvestment Act was passed in 1977 to combat the practice of lenders redlining certain urban areas (refusing to lend to community residents) and even failing to have a branch presence. In 1999 "financial modernization" legislation was passed expanding the scope of lending and security institutions while failing to modernize CRA in relation to bank activities. Many regulations that came out of this legislation are still being worked out, such as exam schedules. Click on the links below depending on the type of CRA information you are looking for.
